I know this is a few mths late but I just saw a post with his obituary in it. I didnt know James very well at all, I was one of his thousands of customers he served. He and I would talk about our mutual love of classic rock and our love for the worn out concert tees. I often would go in to the Dairy Mart, instead of driving somewhere a bit cheaper on cigs, bc I knew he was working and we could have us a little chit-chat. After the place was sold, I was so happy they kept James on as I am sure most of the customers were too. And it saddened me so much when I learned of his passing. I wasnt able to make it to his memorial bc I was out of town visiting family at the time. I am so sorry for your family's loss. Our community feels the loss too, he is greatly missed. I havent been back to the Dairy Mart since as it is not the same without James. I will keep his family and friends in my prayers this holiday season♡

My condolences to the family of James. I live around the corner from Dairy Mart, so that is my store of my choice, but not just because its close, but because James always greeted everyone with such a loving spirit. We always got into debates about why IU was better than uofl lol. He always had a smirk and an opinion on something. He always met you with conversation, and even on a bad day, he made you focus on something other than your problem. He was a great guy and will truly be missed.

James was truly the kindest stranger I've ever known. I would fill up my tank sometimes four or five times a week as an Uber driver and he always had a warm comment for me when I saw him. He was a people pleaser, and it was hard to tell if he was ever in a bad mood because he always had a smile on his face. I'm sincerely saddened by his death. May he Rest In Peace
