Obituary of Wade Dell Sheffield

Wade Sheffield, 76, of Jeffersonville, IN passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 10, 1941 to the late Emery Lee and Clara Lou Sheffield. He attended Screven County High School in Sylvania, Georgia where he lettered in basketball, football, and track. The U.S. Airforce Veteran then attended Baptist Bible College of Springfield where he earned a degree in ministry. Wade married Irene Armstrong in 1963 and then went on to become the founding pastor of Calvary Rd. Baptist Church in 1975, where he served faithfully until his death. He was a sweet and loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather to five children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Wade also enjoyed singing and was described by many as being a dedicated pastor and a soul-winner.

Along with his parents, Wade is preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest Lee Sheffield and Roger Dale Sheffield.

Wade is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Irene Sheffield; children, Michael Sheffield (Ann), Daniel Sheffield (Lori), Paul Sheffield (Laura), Tina Sheffield Burns (Justin), and Lydia Sheffield; siblings, Frederick Sheffield, Von Sheffield, Ricky Sheffield, and Katherine Cubbedge; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Services will take place on Friday, November 3, 2017 and 11 AM at Calvary Rd. Baptist Church, 3795 St Joseph Rd, New Albany, IN, with burial to follow at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 3 PM - 8 PM at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main St. Jeffersonville, IN, and on Friday from 9 AM - 11 AM at the church.
