Richard Paul Daugherty, 54, of Jeffersonville, IN passed away, February 11, 2018, following a 3 year battle with Internal Metastatic Melanoma. His friends and family were by his side when he drifted off to be with the Lord. Born and raised in Louisville, KY by Wanda Faye Daugherty. Richard graduated in 1981 from Stewart High School and completed his undergraduate degree in Retail Management from Western Kentucky University in 1984.

Richard was a founding member of the Cherry Hill Neighborhood Association. Where he served terms as President, Vice President and continued to support the neighborhood as a Board member.at his passing. He was most proud of the Cherry Hill banners that marked the neighborhood boundaries along 10th St, Main and 8th St. during his Presidency.

Richard served in several management positions during his career, including Vice President of Inside Sales for Blitz Mfg, leading the sales team to record setting multimillion dollar sales. The highlight there was his design work with American Jewelry Network. He also worked with Humana Insurance Company in the National Education Department where he developed video training and virtual education programs with international clients. Leaving Humana to pursue his love of real estate in 2005, Richard was awarded Rookie of the Year during his training and development before going on to rank in the top 10% of sales Brokers in Southern Indiana before retiring from real estate in 2015 due to his cancer diagnosis. Richard strongly believed his greatest accomplishment was never the home sale, but rather helping people find their place of joy and happiness.

Richard and Greg were co-owners of two successful jewelry companies; KDM Jewelers, Nashville, TN and K DeMilo Jewelers, Jeffersonville, IN, in partnership with Larry/Sandy Knott. Using his many years of jewelry education and sales experience to provide quality custom made or fine jewelry to satisfied customers.  Richard was a Certified Diamontologist from the Diamond Council of America. His education ranged from certification for diamond and gemstone appraisal to Rolex training in New York, NY.

Richard loved people and showed his passion through education; watching people develop and reach their fullest potential. He considered this the ultimate in finding the joy of the Lord and peace in his soul. No matter his role or place of employment Richard always worked with younger individuals to build their confidence, experience and identifying their potential while pushing them to achieve. For three years he volunteered with Uspiritus-Brooklawn Youth Services mentoring and tutoring young boys.

After his cancer diagnosis Richard continued to encourage anyone he came in contact with to have any "'unusual" skin spots checked out. Blessed to have had the past 3 years with family and friends is no doubt a direct result from the care of his Medical Oncologist, Dr. Jason Chesney, and the Oncology team at Brown Cancer Center. Their support, patience and encouragement certainly led to additional life dreams being fulfilled. Although he never had any outward signs of melanoma he encouraged people to take precautions when enjoying the sun, which he himself did so much.  He was blessed to have been able to achieve his dream during this time of owning a home in south Florida with Greg that they generously shared with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mom, Wanda Faye Daugherty; and maternal grandparents, Archibald and Loney Bartlett.

Richard is survived by his loving husband, Greg Moore; siblings, Tim Daugherty (Debbie), Barry Daugherty (Brenda), Joe Daugherty (Laura), and Amanda Daugherty-Stricker (Mike); half-brother, Jerrold Daugherty (Tara); aunt, Betty Delgado; friends that became family, Gina Embry, Donnette Davis, Charles and Becca Worth, Vonda Trammel, Marsue Burroughs and Cyndi Mattingly; a host of nieces and nephews; and too many friends to name.
