Memorial services for Eleanor Ray Ater McKechnie, 88, of Jeffersonville, IN, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville, KY.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1 to 2 PM at the church prior to the service.  She passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 with family present. 

Eleanor was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church and Choir and was a life member Bridge player. She was involved as a President of the Board of Directors of Life Spring, Daughters of the American Revolution, State President of Daughters of War 1812, Daughter of Colonial Dames, President of Clark County Hospital Board and also volunteering for the American Red Cross. She accomplished all of these through the love of Christ Jesus, Son of God, and through the love of husband, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Dr. Robert K. McKechnie; son, Robert Scott McKechnie; parents, Carlton and Bessie Ater; and her 11 siblings.

She is survived by her four children, Ruth Fejfar, David Kellar McKechnie, Susan Schickel (Richard) and Brian McKechnie (Lois); daughter-in-law, Virginia "Sissy" McKechnie; six grandchildren, Dustin Fejfar (Tonya), Katherine Johnson (Matthew), Sara Majuri-Cipolla (Dominic), Samantha Majuri, Sofia Scott (Wes) and Matthew McKechnie (Holly); and six great-grandchildren, Samuel Fejfar, Rachel Fejfar, Luke Fejfar, Ella Mae Johnson, Maggie Johnson and Ruby Kate Johnson.

Expressions of sympathy can take the form of contributions to Walnut Street Baptist Church or Hosparus of Southern Indiana.  Envelopes will be available at the memorial service.
