Funeral services for Paul W. Johanningsmeier, 91, of Jeffersonville, IN, will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at First Christian Church, 3209 Middle Road, Jeffersonville, IN.  Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 AM on Thursday at the church.  He passed away on April 8, 2018.  Per his wishes, he bequeathed his body to Indiana University Medical Center. 

Paul was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his family.  Before starting a family, he proudly served in the United States Army and graduated from Purdue University.  He was an avid Jeff High Basketball fan, euchre player and world traveler.  Fava and Paul loved to vacation together and they were able to visit six continents and all 50 states.  He sang in the choir, served on and presided over church boards, taught Sunday school and was named Elder Emeritus at First Christian Church.  His service to God was the hallmark of his life. 

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Fava J. Johanningsmeier; parents, Simon F. and Lula Johanningsmeier; and two siblings, Robert Johanningsmeier and Ruth Hotes.

He is survived by his three children, Debbie Wanke (Bill), Janis Zirkle (Dennis), and Mark W. Johanningsmeier (Donna); eight grandchildren, Aaron, Allison, Kevin, April, Kyle, Carrie, Alex and Jayden; and 14 great-grandchildren.
