Miriam G. (Mimi) Tirmenstein Kahl

94; Jeffersonville, IN

Miriam G. (Mimi) Tirmenstein Kahl passed peacefully from this life on May 22, 2018 at the University of Louisville Hospital.  A resident of Jeffersonville, she was born in Anderson, Indiana on November 6, 1923 to Reverend Arthur H.M. and Hilda C. Tirmenstein.  She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 67 years, Melvin R. Kahl; sister Phyllis R. Tirmenstein; daughter Linda Kathleen (Kathy) Simonis; son Steve Kahl (Nancy); grandchildren Thomas A. Simonis (Alecia), Sandra K. Vaughn (Sam), and Nathan Kahl (Tabitha); as well as 7 great-grandchildren. 

She was a graduate of Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana and Evansville College (now the University of Evansville).  She worked as a professional secretary for many years and was an avid Contract Bridge Player having attained the designation of “Life Master”.  She loved music and played the piano, organ, and sang in the choirs of her churches from the time that she was a teenager.  She enjoyed water and snow skiing while able and watching basketball and football.  Mimi and Mel were fixtures at Jeffersonville High School sporting events for about 50 years.

Mimi was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Adrienne (Dottie) Tirmenstein; brother, A. Paul Tirmenstein; grand-daughter Kelly Kahl Woodard; and great-grandson Alexander Simonis.

Pastor Amanda Waggoner-Meade will be conducting a celebration of life service at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway in Jeffersonville on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM.  Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the WHAS Crusade for Children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or First Christian Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana where she was a member.
