Obituary of Larry Elsworth Harter

Funeral services for Larry Elsworth Harter, 66, of Jeffersonville, IN, will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1534 Slate Run Road, New Albany, IN, with burial to follow in Tunnel Hill Cemetery in Greenville, IN.  Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 10-2 PM.  He passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Norton Hospital in Louisville.     

Larry was born on November 20, 1951 in New Albany, IN, to the late Elsworth and Emma Harter.  He was retired from Samtec and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  Larry enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Charlene Harter; and numerous aunts and uncles.   

He is survived by his loving daughter, Michelle Thompson (Tony); grandson, Antonio Thompson; a sister, Sandra Tucker (Robert); two nieces, Cheryl Smith (Bob); Kimberly Judd (Nephi); four nephews, Christopher Tucker (Amy); Matthew Tucker (Cardon); Jared Tucker (Celeste); Eric Tucker (Rebecca); and sixteen great nieces and nephews, Shane Robinson, Brittany Judd, Adam Judd, Chandler Judd, Mackenzie Judd, Lauren Judd, Cru Tucker, Shea Tucker, Gavin Tucker, Embry Tucker, Mason Tucker, Collin Tucker, Savanna Tucker, Ammon Tucker, Layne Tucker, and Marlee Tucker.   

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
