Obituary of Charles Nachand

Funeral services for Charles “Charlie” Edward Nachand, 79, of Jeffersonville, IN, will be held at 11 AM on Monday, October 1, 2018, at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 329 Walnut Street in Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-7 PM at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy in Jeffersonville, and on Monday prior to the service from 10-11 AM at the church.  He passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Clark Memorial Hospital.   

Charlie was born on June 3, 1939 in New Albany, IN, to the late Charles A. and Katherine Stemler Nachand.  He previously worked in sales and purchasing. He also was a claims clerk for the Clark County Government.  Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He was an elder at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, a member of the Jeffersonville Elks Club, and the Jeffersonville High School Alumni Association (Class of 1957).  Charlie enjoyed spending time with his Wednesday Lunch Bunch, his close friends and neighbors, and his extended church family.     

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Schuler, Helen Bennett; and a nephew, Chris Schuler.   

He is survived by a niece, Cynthia Maschmeyer (Mike); two nephews, Kevin Bennett (Cindy); Keith Bennett (Alysia); great nieces and nephews, Kyle Schuler (Emily), Dylan Maschmeyer, Evan Maschmeyer, Brandon Bennett (Leah), Blake Bennett (Becca), Jennifer Bennett, and Lindsay Bennett.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Charlie can be made to St. Luke’s United Church of Christ.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
