Obituary of Marjorie Jewell Coons Harris
Funeral services for Marjorie Jewell Coons Harris, 95, of Clarksville, IN, will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy in Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 4-8 PM and on Wednesday prior to the service from 9-11 AM at the funeral home. She passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Sellersburg Healthcare Center.
Marjorie was born on October 18, 1923 in New Albany, IN, to the late Robert Paul Coons and Catherine Feiock Coons Waggoner. She was a longtime member of Advent Christian Church in New Albany where she faithfully served in many capacities and taught Sunday School for over 50 years. Marjorie was an exceptional seamstress and she enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, William John Harris Jr.; and three sisters, Mary Louise Hutchens, Betty Lou Strother, and JoAnn VanBinsbergen.
She is survived by her three children, William J. “Bill” Harris III (Janice); Robert J. “Bob” Harris (Tana); M. Cathy Fant (Alan); nine grandchildren, William J. “B.J.” Harris (Brittany); Joshua R. Harris; Caleb L. Harris (Susan); Susan L. Gingerich (Dan); Kelly J. Oakley (Matt); Robert A. Harris; Veronica A. Harris; Bradley H. Fant (Jacqueline); Andrea J. Fant; and ten great grandchildren, Joseph, Dania, Anna, Elaina, Moriah, and Benjamin Gingerich, Adeline, Harrison, Andrew, and Catherine Oakley.
Memorial contributions can be made to Advent Christian Church, 2129 Shelby Street, New Albany, IN, 47150. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
