Obituary of Adelheid "Heidi" Jakob Sellers

Funeral services for Adelheid “Heidi” Jakob Sellers, 85, of New Albany, Indiana, will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy in Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Sellersburg Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3-8 PM and on Thursday prior to the service from 10-11 AM at the funeral home.  She passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019. 

Heidi was born on May 28, 1933 in Srbobran, Yugoslavia to the late Emil and Hermine Oswald Jakob.  She graduated from Jeffersonville High School, and earned her Bachelor and Master Degree’s from the University of Louisville. Heidi was a retired high school German teacher and previously attended Wall Street United Methodist Church.  She volunteered her time to numerous charitable causes, most recently by crocheting hundreds of Caps for Cancer. 

Along with her parents, Heidi was preceded in death by her loving husband, W. Stewart Sellers; and three siblings, Elsa Brewer, Herb Jakob and Helmut Jakob.

She is survived by her four children, Warren Sellers (Susan); Bill Sellers (Mimi); Mildred Vernia (Charlie); Stephen J. Sellers (Laura); nine grandchildren, Andee, Katie, Kent, Joel, Charles, James, Emma, Grace, Clara; and eight great grandchildren, Benjamin, Anna, Katrina, Collin, Eva, Mackenzie, Nia and Liam.  

To avoid Heidi’s allergies from flaring up, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Center for Lay Ministries.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
