Obituary of Richard Earl Mayer
Richard Earl Mayer, 94 of Jeffersonville passed away Friday, April 12, 2019 at Wedgewood Healthcare. He was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana on March 25, 1925 to the late Ernest and Hellen Mayer. Richard was a photographer for the Corp of Engineers for 33 years. He was a United States Army Veteran during World War II and received a bronze star medal. He was a member of Cook Memorial United Methodist Church, former scout master and member of National Association for Retired Federal Employees.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Virginia Mae Mayer; a daughter, Cathy Ann Mayer; a son-in-law, Dale Sidebottom; and two brothers, William and Robert Mayer.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Janet Sidebottom and Bonnie Deason (Mark); a grandson, Eric Deason (Alisha); one great-granddaughter, Makayla Corbett.
A service to celebrate his life will be conducted on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Monday, April 15, 2019 at the funeral home.
