Obituary of Donald "Don" Edward Adams
Donald “Don” Edward Adams, 86, of Jeffersonville, IN, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019 surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, with burial to follow at New Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 PM and on Saturday from 10 AM to 12 PM at the funeral home.
Donald was born on July 16, 1933 in Jeffersonville, IN, to the late John and Emma (Maloney) Adams. He was a Graduate of Jeffersonville High School and immediately entered the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country during the Korean War as an Aircraft Mechanic and Hydraulics Specialist. He later became involved with local public service and law enforcement. He was a volunteer firefighter at McCullough Fire Department, a deputy for the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, and a State Investigator with the Indiana Office of the Attorney General. He was a longtime member of Cook Memorial United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge Clark 40, Indiana Scottish Rite, and the Sellersburg American Legion Post 204. He and his wife, Betty, were the original owners and operators of Ice Cream Willie’s in Jeffersonville before retiring in 2000. He loved spending his time woodworking, photography, travel and playing music. His current favorite hobby was carving and gifting wooden crosses.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert Adams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Betty (Armstrong) Adams; children, Donna Wood, Michael Adams (Emily), Cheryl Johnston (Jeff), Diane Smith (Donald), Denise Jeffries, Heidi Grimm (Spencer), and Michelle Morgan (Dale); siblings, Jean Janes (Jim), and William Adams (Mary Ruth); 12 grandchildren, Britney, Zachary, Grace, Tate, Avery, Sophia, Kayla, Joshua, Cody, Bradley, Wyatt and Nicholas; 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or the Sellersburg American Legion Honor Guard. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
