Obituary of Donald E. Thompson

Donald E. Thompson, 78, of Jeffersonville died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Clark Memorial Hospital. Donald was born October 24, 1934 in Jeffersonville to LeRoy (Tuck) and Wilhelmina (Minnie) Thompson. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served immediately following the Korean War. He worked at Ohio Valley Tube Company, Baxter Tube Company and General Electric at Appliance Park. Donald was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the morning coffee group at Jerry's restaurant, Jeffersonville, and was very active in flea market sales. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Robert, Richard and Kenneth Thompson and two sisters, Betty Wiley and Wanda Densford. Survivors include his loving wife Mary Rose Book Thompson, daughter Dawn, his favorite four-legged family member, Shazooka (Peanut), two brothers, John and Charles Thompson and two sisters, Judy Marcell and Vickie Browning. In addition, Donald had many nieces and nephews who will miss his help and advice. He will be greatly missed by his family, relatives and his coffee-drinking and flea market buddies. A memorial service celebrating his life is scheduled for Thursday, September 12 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jeffersonville with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m., a Mass at 11:00 a.m. and luncheon immediately following Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in memory of Donald to Sacred Heart Church for future Masses in his honor.
