Funeral services for John George Burbules, COL USA Ret., 84, of Sellersburg, IN, will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 18, 2017 at St. Michael Orthodox Church, 3701 St. Michael Church Drive, Louisville, KY.  A graveside service with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be held from 12 to 6 PM on Sunday at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN.  He had a Christian ending to his life; painless, blameless and peaceful on the morning of December 14, 2017. 

John's life was simple.  He served his God.  He served his country.  And he served his family and friends.  Each with endless dedication and tremendous love.  The rest of his story lives on with the thousands he's touched. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Catherine Burbules; and brother, Constantine "Gus" Burbules.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ella Patricia Burbules; children, George Burbules (Julie) of East Dundee, IL, Angela Tiffany of Hampton, NH, and Catherine Burbules-Sexton (Sarah) of Schenectady, NY; grandchildren, Mary, Melanie, Alexandra, Alayna and Ashlee; brother, Peter G. Burbules, LTG U.S. Army Retired; sister, Margo Alexander; and many nieces and nephews.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to St. Michael Church, Republican National Committee or the National Rifle Association.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
