Heather always had a smile on her face and a great sense of humor. I went to school with her and seeing her everyday was so a part of my every day life and not seeing and knowing she is out there in the world being the angel she was is life changing for me because she was an inspiration. I wish I had the chance to tell her that. She impacted my life greatly and I can guarantee that she will forever. She was so so special. She will remain special In so many hearts

In 1996 or 1997, I had the honor of writing and co-producing a fundraising film for Metro United Way starring Heather.
Everyone involved in the project was inspired by Heather's fierce spirit and immediately fell under the spell of her amazing personality.
Making that film was the most satisfying project of my career, and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to participate in capturing her story to that point in her life.
Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss, and try to take comfort in knowing that Heather made a lasting and positive impression on the world.
Sincerely,
Dave Reyburn

Heather,
My sweet girl, you’ve gone too soon...
I am so saddened to hear of your passing...
It was such a pleasure caring for you during your time at dialysis.. I loved getting to know you, hearing about your dance, your sleepovers with your girlfriends, your lunch dates with your sister, mom & nephew... and the recent happy news of the new arrival of your niece.
I am not going to be able to make it to see you one last time, I will remember your sweet smile, laugh, the kindness and caring heart... and how you were such an inspiration to everyone at our unit.
Sending my love to your family, especially your sweet Momma.
May you rest easy...
All my Love,
Suzanne Lind

I am so sorry to learn of Heather's passing. I am sorry for all she had to endure in these last few weeks, as well as what I can imagine her short time with her family and friends. What little time with her, she was such a sweet patient and a brave trooper. I send my deepest sympathies to you all during this time, and could see she was so lovingly cared for, and was a beautiful and inspirational young lady.

Dear Stengel family,
My deepest sympathies to you. I was one of Heather's instructors at Ivy Tech and held a special place in my heart for her.
I'd love to share some good memories of observing her teach and do projects in class and will do so in the future.
Meantime, know that a more loving, courageous, funny, inquisitive, sharp and unique human being would be tough to find.
She taught me far more than I ever could have taught her.
THank you for bringing this bright light into our world.

I like everyone that knew heather is heartbroken. Heather was so fragile yet so strong. The strongest person I knew. We have such precious memories. Heather taught me and Morgan so much just by being her. We will forever be thankful for having known and loved her. Remembering countless times I would try so hard to get her to smile on Stage , only for her to laugh and then we would laugh forever. Thank you for all of the joy , the lessons , the friendship. Thank you heather❤️ Love hugs and strength to the family “ jenni”

Heather would come to see me between her classes at Ivy Tech. Whenever she appeared at my door, it would put a smile on my face and brighten my day. Even after she graduated, we would text every few months to catch up. She was such an amazing young lady, and I will miss her. Prayers of healing for her sweet family.
